Qualifying applicants will receive a cash scholarship directly applied to their account in the amount of the difference between their Pell Grant and actual tuition cost. The NxtGenNow Scholarship exists to financially empower eligible Northpoint|GR students to participate in a
world-class ministry preparation experience that is both academic and practical without incurring tuition related debt.
Eligible applicants will demonstrate financial need as well as academic and ministry promise. They will also express
a desire to participate in a ministry internship through Grand Rapids First.

Interns in Kids First will learn a variety of techniques for producing materials for kids ministry and experience in services to connect and lead kids. Kids First interns are comprised of Northpoint students who have been approved as interns. The approval process involves application, interview and audition.

VERTICAL INTERNSHIP

The Vertical Student Ministries Internship is designed to help you grow at an exponential rate. We want the learning you receive at Northpoint to be combined with hands-on ministry experience as well as coaching, training, and spiritual backing. Our goal is to develop young people into the best leaders and influencers in their communities and cities. In this internship you will have the opportunity to invest in students and young adults and learn how to become a leader of leaders. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to work in a team environment working to accomplish something together.

Process For Awarding Scholarship - Fall 2020 and Spring 2021

Submit the application form in its entirety before June 14, 2020

Reviewed by President / Dean by June 17, 2020

Interview with Appropriate Intern Area Director – by June 22, 2020

Committee Meeting – by June 30, 2020

Candidates forwarded to the donor by July 3, 2020

Scholarship Awardees notified via email/phone by July 10, 2020
Criteria:
I. A demonstrated vibrant faith in Jesus Christ.
To be verified by:

Pastoral reference from Northpoint|GR application process

Personal essay from the NxtGenNow Scholarship application form

Interview with appropriate representatives from Northpoint|GR and Grand Rapids First
-
Regular attendance and involvement at Grand Rapids First or the student’s home church

II. A demonstrated passion and potential for participation in the ongoing work of Jesus.

III. A demonstrated ability to be academically successful.

High School GPA of preferably 3.00 or higher

ACT or SAT scores preferably at the 75th percentile [21/1250] or higher

Educator reference from Northpoint|GR application process

Phone interview with appropriate representative(s) from Northpoint|GR
-
Maintenance of 2.75 GPA or higher during the first year at Northpoint|GR and a 3.0 thereafter
-
Full-time participation in the student’s scheduled Northpoint|GR cohort is preferred

IV. Availability to participate in the appropriate Grand Rapids First ministry internship is required on Wednesdays (one day per week) for the entirety of the awarded academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).

V. A demonstrated financial need and a commitment to financial responsibility.
