Located a mere 8.4 miles from the Northpoint campus, downtown Grand Rapids and its eclectic restaurants, coffee and culture are only a few minutes away.

Any student who is able to make Grand Rapids home for their time at Northpoint will have a variety of cultural experiences right at their fingertips. In addition, being a part of Grand Rapids first offers opportunities to serve a multi-cultural community!

ArtPrize

ArtPrize is an open, independently organized international art competition which takes place for 19 days bi-annually in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

​

This free event open to the public now attracts over 500,000 visitors, making it the most attended public art event in the world in 2014 and 2015, according the The Art Newspaper’s annual “Big Ticket List.”

 

ArtPrize 2024 will take place from

September 13 - September 28.

Frederik Meijer Gardens

"Experience masterpieces of art and nature that will delight your senses at one of the nation's premier horticultural display gardens and sculpture parks in Grand Rapids, Michigan."

Meijer Gardens is an awesome place to enjoy many nature exhibits and Michigan's seasonal changes. During the summer, the gardens are also host to an incredible summer concert series in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater.

Grand Rapids Museums

There are several museums located mainly downtown that make a day trip into the city both enjoyable and educational. Explore a range of local history and traveling exhibits at the Grand Rapids Public Museum and Planetarium, take a glimpse into art history at the Art Museum, tour a Presidential Museum and Library, or learn about the rich heritage of the African American community being preserved and shared at the Grand Rapids African American Museum and Archives. There is a lot to do!

Parks & Recreation

Grand Rapids is less than an hour away from some of the most beautiful beaches in the state including Holland, Saugatuck and Grand Haven.

 

Several city parks are all within 10 minutes or less of the Northpoint campus and offer a place to stretch the legs and breath some fresh air or maybe even get a quick game of disc golf in!

Considering moving to GR?

While Northpoint College does not have on-campus housing, there are still some options to look at that could make attending a truly viable option. It might also give you some more time to experience everything that Grand Rapids has to offer! Check out some of the apartments in the area.
